Ouagadougou: The women of Douroula demonstrated their support for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) through a donation event chaired by the High Commissioner of the Mouhoun province, Bassouleymane Ouattara. The donation, held on September 8, 2026, included liquid soap, shea butter, and soumbala.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation ceremony served as an acknowledgment of the efforts and sacrifices made by the FDS and VDP in their mission to reclaim the territory and restore peace and security within the commune. The women's contribution aimed to bolster the collective efforts and motivate the forces committed to defending the homeland.

The event also featured the symbolic handover of food supplies organized by the Catholic Organization for Development and Solidarity (OCADES) and the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR) to support the local population.

Maxime Bakouan, President of the special delegation (PDS) of Douroula, expressed gratitude for the women's gesture, recognizing it as a sign of their appreciation for the FDS and VDP's dedication. He urged the women to maintain their unity and solidarity, crucial for overcoming community challenges.

Koeta Zata, the coordinator of the women of Douroula, highlighted the importance of their contribution and called for increased cohesion among women. She emphasized the need for income-generating projects to empower women economically, allowing them to better support their families.

High Commissioner Bassouleymane Ouattara commended the communal efforts towards the gradual restoration of peace. He lauded the leadership of the PDS and the commitment of stakeholders assisting the community in resilience-building. Ouattara also acknowledged the strong collaboration between the women and the FDS and VDP, encouraging further strengthening of this relationship.

He addressed the distribution of food aid, attributing the success to the mobilization efforts of the PDS and the High Commission, which reflect their concern for the community's living conditions. Emphasizing the importance of cooperative societies, Ouattara encouraged the women to engage actively in their development.

As the ceremony concluded, the PDS of Douroula outlined the food distribution methods and the beneficiary villages, ensuring the community would be informed through a forthcoming communication.
