Ouagadougou: The High Council for Communication (CSC) organized a training and awareness workshop for 35 journalists and web activists from September 7 to 9, 2026, in Tenkodogo, focusing on their social responsibility during times of crisis. This event marked the third phase of the initiative, following previous sessions in Bobo-Dioulasso and Koudougou, and gathered media professionals from various regions, including Nakamb, Goulmou, and Kuils.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the opening ceremony was led by the President of the CSC, Wendingoundi Louis Modeste Oudraogo, and included remarks from the Governor of Nakamb, Yiy Abraham Somdo, and Dieudonn Kini, a representative from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The governor emphasized the importance of a secure and successful session, acknowledging the Defense and Security Forces for their efforts.
The UNDP representative highlighted the role of reliable information in sustainable human development, aligning the workshop's objectives with Sustainable Development Goal 16, which emphasizes peace and strong institutions. Drawing from a biblical verse, Dieudonn Kini urged participants to recognize their influence in information dissemination.
Moussa Sawadogo, an ICT expert, presented the inaugural communication on the social responsibility of media professionals during crises. Over three days, participants engaged in nine modules covering topics like CSC's regulatory role, media coverage of terrorism, and fact-checking. Digital security, disinformation, and the Burkinabe media pact against terrorism were also discussed.
Experts leading these modules included Abdoulaye Dao from the CSC, Lt. Col. Abdoul Azize Oudraogo of the Burkinabe Armed Forces, and His Majesty Dawelg Naaba Boalga, among others. The closing ceremony featured a speech by Fousseni Kindo, reaffirming CSC's dedication to enhancing media capacities with partner support.
Participants expressed gratitude to the Council and local authorities, committing to uphold professionalism as their guiding principle.
