Ouagadougou: Youth from the commune of Man© mobilized on Thursday to temporarily rehabilitate the Man©-Silmidougou road, which was badly damaged by bad weather, while also calling on the relevant authorities to rehabilitate the road, which is about 9 kilometers long.

According to Burkina Information Agency, armed with shovels, picks, hammers and supported by tricycles, mobilized young people undertook to repair the most critical points of the road, including a blackout. This approximately 9 km stretch is "severely degraded by rainwater and threatens to completely disrupt traffic between Man© and Silmidougou if nothing is done."

For Abdoulaye Ou©draogo, spokesperson for the youth, this mobilization, which he describes as civic, aims to facilitate the mobility of communities between Silmidougou, the masterpiece of the canton and that of the commune. "With the resources we had and our physical strength, we decided to save what could be saved," he said.

He nevertheless called on the authorities and people of goodwill to support the efforts of the youth through a sustainable rehabilitation of this road, whose deterioration constitutes a major difficulty for users, especially during the rainy season. Comrade Ou©draogo also warned about the state of the blackcurrant bush located about four kilometers from Man©, estimating that the road could be permanently cut off if appropriate measures are not taken before the next winter season.

"We hope that it will hold temporarily so that producers can at least get their harvests home," he said.
