Ouagadougou: The Second Gendarmerie Legion clinched the victory in the 4th edition of the Bf1 Foot tournament held in Bobo-Dioulasso by defeating the Regional Judicial Police Service (SRPJ) on penalties. The tournament concluded on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and was held under the theme of promoting peace and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament, which commenced on July 11, 2026, saw participation from 42 teams. The final match remained goalless after two 20-minute halves, leading to a penalty shootout. The Gendarmerie emerged victorious by converting one penalty, while SRPJ failed to score.
The organizing committee's chairman, Sotuo Justin Dabir, highlighted the event's objective of fostering community unity through football. Mich¨le Diawara, regional director of Bf1, extended her gratitude to all participants and underscored the significance of fair play during the tournament.
Lieutenant-Colonel Lonid Rakiswend Diabri, patron of the tournament's 4th edition and Commander of the Second Gendarmerie Legion, expressed his appreciation for the extensive participation and urged for continued cohesion between the local communities and Defense and Security Forces (FDS).
Issoufou Sar, Director General of Bf1, commended the media's involvement and reiterated the station's dedication to promoting sports. The Gendarmerie claimed the trophy for the second consecutive year and received medals, a ball, and a cash prize.
