Houet: The people of Padma are urged to strengthen their collaboration with the VDP and the FDS: The active forces of the commune of Padma were sensitized on Thursday, September 10, 2026, on the missions of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the issues related to terrorism and demonstrations, as well as on good practices of collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting was chaired by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Padma, Dmitri Badolo, and brought together VDPs, village chiefs, presidents of Village Development Councils (CVDs), customary and religious leaders, representatives of youth and women, as well as representatives of citizen watch from the 12 villages of the commune.

In his opening remarks, Dmitri Badolo commended the efforts made by civil society, the security forces, the VDP, and traditional and religious authorities in promoting security and social cohesion. He nevertheless called upon the various stakeholders to redouble their efforts and strengthen their collective commitment, particularly through vigilance, cohesion, and collaboration.

The first presentation, led by Warrant Officer Paul Kouraogo, focused on the organization and missions of the VDP Brigade and the Regional Operational Group (GOR). The speaker emphasized the need for communities to better understand the role of the VDP.

Lieutenant-Colonel Mathieu Twend Nana then addressed the participants on the topic of "Terrorism and Demonstrations," emphasizing that the fight against terrorism requires everyone's involvement, particularly through vigilance, civic responsibility, and the reporting of useful information.

Finally, the Brigade Commander of the Padma Gendarmerie and local coordinator for the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), Bakary Millogo, emphasized the complementary roles of the local population and the VDP. The presentations were followed by direct exchanges with the participants, who asked questions and shared their concerns. The meeting thus strengthened mutual understanding and encouraged community mobilization in support of security and social cohesion.
