Djelgodji/kelbo: The people of Kelbo participated, on September 5 and 6, 2026, in the second phase of the National Vector Control Day (JNAV), through operations to destroy larval breeding grounds and awareness sessions on hygiene and sanitation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign mobilized residents, health workers, community stakeholders, and technical services, led by the representative of the president of the special delegation (PDS). Its aim is to consolidate the gains of the first phase and limit the proliferation of mosquitoes responsible for several diseases.

Two sites were specifically targeted: the area around the market and the vicinity of the PDS residence. Participants also raised awareness among residents about the importance of keeping living spaces clean and eliminating areas that could promote mosquito breeding.

According to the major of the Kelbo Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS), Constantin Parkouda, the first phase was marked by good participation from the inhabitants, a decrease in larval breeding grounds and a drop in the number of malaria cases.

He indicated that these actions also contributed to improving environmental health and reducing healthcare spending.

The official launch of the JNAV in the commune of Kelbo took place on August 10, 2026. On this occasion, the representative of the PDS invited the inhabitants to strengthen their efforts in hygiene and sanitation in order to preserve their living environment.

At the end of the operation, the CSPS Major, Constantin Parkouda, praised the involvement of the various participants and encouraged them to maintain this momentum. "It is together that we will fight against the vector agents and protect our living environment," he said.
