Riyadh: The Union of News Agencies of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) and the International Center for Research and Ethics on Artificial Intelligence (ICAIRE) have signed a memorandum of understanding during the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (GFEAI 2026) in Riyadh. The forum, which commenced on September 14, is set to conclude on September 17.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the memorandum was signed by Mr. Mohammed bin Abd Rabbo Al-Yami, Director General of UNA, and Dr. Majed bin Ali Al-Shehri, Director General of ICAIRE. The agreement seeks to align the objectives of ICAIRE with UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy for 2022-2029. It also reflects UNA's commitment to UNESCO's strategic goals, such as promoting freedom of expression, media development, and a culture of peace and tolerance.

The collaboration aims to combat hate speech and extremism, support knowledge exchange, and strengthen media capacities in the digital era. It also focuses on coordinating training programs for media professionals, promoting ethical technological transformations, and developing partnerships for long-lasting impacts.
