Boulgou/bissiga: Teachers in the Basic Education District (CEB) of Bissiga, in the Boulgou province, held their administrative back-to-school session on Tuesday for the 2026-2027 school year, under the banner of resilience. 'We are happy to be back at our school, with our students and parents for this new school year,' said the headmaster of Bissiga B school, Sadou Zoungrana.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this reopening is a source of satisfaction, even if it requires a quick return to work. After more than a year of closure, several tasks remain to be completed before the start of the academic year. This includes the repair of desks and benches and the replacement of damaged doors and windows. Also on the list of priorities are the recruitment of new students for the first year of preparatory classes (CP1) and the re-enrollment of returning students. "There is no more time to lose if we want to be operational by October 1st," he added.
At Godin school, all staff were present for the administrative start of the new school year. According to the headmaster, Willy Yougbare, the teachers are ready to implement the ongoing educational reforms. 'Despite the security situation, all staff are committed to carrying out administrative activities while awaiting the arrival of schoolchildren. We are determined to support the highest authorities in the implementation of reforms, including the transcription of Moore and the teaching of bilingual and multilingual subjects, for which we completed training a few days ago,' he said.
During his supervisory tour, the Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Bissiga, Michel Boundaogo, said he was satisfied with the presence and commitment of teachers in the field. According to him, eleven schools will reopen during the academic year in the district. He praised the dedication of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who made these reopenings possible.
The CCEB explained that the visit was intended to inquire about the conditions for resumption, to assess the level of preparation of the different structures and to exchange with the directors on the measures taken for a successful start to the academic year. 'In every school we visited, we found men and women determined to meet the challenge of education in a difficult security context. Given this dedication, we are hopeful that success rates will be even better this year,' said Michel Boundaogo.
He also reassured teachers regarding the security support provided by the FDS and VDP, as well as the support of the authorities. Despite the difficulties linked to the gradual reopening of schools and the reduction in the number of teachers, the CEB of Bissiga intends to improve its results compared to the previous year.
