Mouhoun: The conscripts for compulsory patriotic immersion (IPO) in Tcheriba, alongside the agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), gathered on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for a sanitation campaign aimed at eradicating larval breeding sites. This event, initially scheduled for the National Day dedicated to this cause, was delayed.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activity was organized in partnership with the Association of Civil Servants and Traders of Tcheriba. It kicked off with a popular cross-country race that drew in conscripts, agricultural VDPs, and various municipal, military, and paramilitary authorities, as well as numerous young participants.

Following the race, attendees assembled at the Tcheriba Medical Center (CM) to conduct a comprehensive weeding and sanitation operation. The conscripts and agricultural VDP volunteers worked together to clear weeds and other potential mosquito breeding habitats around the health center.

The President of the special delegation (PDS) of Tcheriba emphasized that this mobilization exemplifies the civic duty, solidarity, and community commitment taught to the conscripts during their training. He encouraged them to continue this effort for the health and development of the community.

This operation represents the second civic engagement by the commune's conscripts. A prior team had mobilized on September 6, 2026, under the direction of their delegate, Olivier Idrissa Koumale. The goal was to eliminate as many mosquito breeding grounds as possible, in line with the directives of top health authorities.

The delegate noted that the significant turnout for this second event, including agricultural VDPs and diverse community members, shows strong support for combating larval breeding sites.

Bakary Se, the care unit supervisor at the Medical Centre, lauded the initiative for enhancing the working environment and improving conditions for patient care. He praised the conscripts for their dedication and urged them to continue upholding civic duty and solidarity.

With aid from the agricultural VDP, IPO conscripts in Tcheriba aim to sustain this effort. They are committed to increasing community initiatives, ensuring the values learned during their immersion are reflected in continued local service.
