Boulgou: In the municipality of Zonse, the 2026-2027 academic year has officially begun, with a satisfactory teacher attendance rate. However, challenges remain, including insufficient infrastructure and overcrowded secondary schools.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Taboure Yigo, the teachers were present and accounted for. However, he noted the lack of substitute teachers to cover maternity leaves or absences due to illness.

In terms of infrastructure, three-classroom school complexes are under construction in Diarrabontenga, Yergoya B, Saopo, and Ponga B. However, some classrooms in thatched huts still exist in the district. The gradual transition of first-grade classes to bilingual/multilingual education is also underway, with teacher training provided.

At the Zonse A school, headmistress Awa Tapsoba estimates the projected enrollment at around four hundred students. She also noted that desks and benches were in poor condition and called on parents to become more involved in maintaining the school premises and monitoring their children's academic progress.

At the Zonse high school, the main difficulty concerns capacity. Two hundred and twenty students assigned to 6th grade must be divided into only two classes, or about one hundred and ten students per class, according to headmaster Andre Sedogo. This situation arises while the school is facing a shortage of teachers in French, history-geography, and English. Mr. Sedogo also reported on the deterioration of school and administrative buildings, built in 2007, which require renovation.
