Truck Inferno on National Route 1: Tire Explosion Leaves Vehicle Completely Burned

Ouagadougou: A truck loaded with goods was completely burned out after a wheel exploded; no human casualties were reported. A truck carrying packages of sachets of mineral water caught fire after a tire exploded on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM on National Route 1 (RN1) between Boromo and Petit Bal. According to security sources, the incident caused no injuries but significant material damage.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the truck was completely burned out, leaving only a pile of charred scrap metal and a large quantity of damaged water sachets, following the intervention of the firefighters from the 6th company of the Boromo fire brigade who contained the flames.

According to the testimony of an apprentice on board the vehicle who requested anonymity, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. following the bursting of a rear tire of the vehicle in the middle of traffic. "When the wheel burst, a large amount of smoke was released at that point before turning into flames. We tried in vain to control the fire with the fire extinguisher. We then called on the National Fire Brigade (BNSP)," he recounted.

The promptness and determination of the firefighters in managing the incident deserve praise. The traffic police, dispatched to the scene to investigate, also demonstrated efficiency by setting up a detour in record time to allow traffic to resume.
