Ouagadougou: Malian Minister of Religious Affairs, Worship and Customs, Mahamadou Kon©, visited Ouagadougou to engage with Burkinabe authorities on the management of religious and customary affairs, seeking to foster cooperation within the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mahamadou Kon© emphasized that the visit served as a foundation for religious complementarity between the two nations. The focus was on sharing experiences in managing religious issues, worship, and traditional beliefs, aiming for a unified approach in the future.

"Our employees will meet technically, they will exchange ideas among technicians. Once we have reached a common goal, nothing is impossible so that one day we can standardize our practices and ways of managing our domains," Kon© explained, highlighting the potential for collaboration on the management of the Hajj and Christian pilgrimages.

The discussions also touched on the prevention of violent extremism and the fight against terrorism, challenges faced by both Burkina Faso and Mali. Kon© underscored the importance of sharing strategies and techniques to tackle these issues effectively.

Additionally, the Malian minister pointed out the importance of considering traditional beliefs alongside revealed religions such as Christianity and Islam in these discussions. He expressed a keen interest in the Burkinabe approach to religious freedom, looking to draw insights from their recently adopted texts on the matter.

Kon© portrayed the engagement as a mutual learning process, where both countries could benefit from each other's experiences, especially in managing traditional religions. "Through exchange, the fruit always falls," he concluded, underscoring the value of ongoing dialogue and cooperation.
