Ouagadougou: celebrated the 21st edition of the Regional Day of Academic Excellence on Friday in the multipurpose hall in Tenkodogo. Under the theme "Culture of Merit and Implementation of Educational Reforms: Building Together a School of Excellence Serving the Development of the Nakamb© Region," the ceremony recognized 153 award winners, including 70 students, 28 teachers, 24 educational institutions, and 31 partners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was placed under the patronage of the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, and under the co-patronage of the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabr© Gouba, with the sponsorship of Diebedo Francis K©r©. It was chaired by the governor of the Nakamb© region, Yiy© Abraham Somdo, in the presence of various administrative, educational, customary and religious authorities, sponsors, teachers, supervisors, parents of students, and technical and financial partners.
In his address, the governor commended the commitment of the educational community, which continues its mission despite constraints. He paid tribute to teachers and education professionals who have fallen in the line of duty or in defense of the nation and invited those present to observe a minute of silence.
Comrade Somdo highlighted the results of the 2026 Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP) examination, noting that out of 25,023 candidates, 24,148 passed, representing a regional success rate of 96.50%. He emphasized that 529 out of the 737 schools that presented candidates achieved a 100% pass rate.
The chairman of the organizing committee, Bourbila Pierre Silga, who is also the regional director in charge of Education, stated that the celebration of excellence aims to stimulate emulation and encourage other actors to redouble their efforts. He expressed that rewarding students and teachers who have distinguished themselves creates emulation and encourages others to achieve similar results.
Among the award winners is Esther Bambara, a teacher at the private school Le Respect, named "Super Teacher" for her efforts in ensuring all 115 students she presented for the CEP exam passed. She attributed her success to work, love of work, selflessness, and rigor.
Malys Wendyam Oubda, who was named 'Super Student,' expressed her joy, stating that hard work always pays off. She encouraged her classmates to work hard as well.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the sponsors, including architect Di©b©do Francis K©r©, technical and financial partners, local authorities, and economic operators for their support in making this 21st edition a success.
