Ouagadougou: The Ti©fo Amoro Higher Military Education Institute (IEMS-TA) opened its doors on Friday to its first class of fifteen officers for a year of training. These students, all with the rank of lieutenant colonel, will graduate with dual certification, including a diploma from the War College and a Master's degree in their respective fields.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the commander of IEMS-TA, Colonel-Major C©leste Moussa Coulibaly, stated that the training program was created and named "National Experience in the Face of Threats and Adaptation of Forces" following instructions from the President of Faso. The aim is to leverage the ongoing conflict to enhance defense capabilities.
He emphasized that by August 2027, the officers are expected to become strategic leaders capable of analyzing complex environments and possessing expertise in national doctrinal foundations. They will be skilled in strategic and operational planning, and equipped to translate political directions into military strategies.
Colonel-Major Coulibaly also highlighted that IEMS-TA aims to produce leaders who can operate seamlessly in joint and inter-ministerial contexts, anticipate geopolitical changes, and possess strong backgrounds in political science and international relations. The goal is to cultivate officers who can defend the nation's integrity and shape its strategic future.
The Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo, through the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Moussa Diallo, emphasized that the War College's opening represents a significant step in developing a national strategic framework. This aligns with President Captain Ibrahim Traor©'s vision and addresses current security challenges.
He underscored the importance of developing personnel capable of leading national defense based on Burkina Faso's strategic environment. Learning from domestic experiences and building a model tailored to local realities is seen as essential for effective military strategy, as stressed by the Prime Minister.
