Ziro: The province of Ziro is set to address the challenges of the upcoming school year, with a strong focus on the expansion of bilingual education in line with the directives to promote national languages in schools, as stated by Sidbewendin Compaoré, the Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF), during the administrative start of the school year.According to Burkina Information Agency, in Ziro, 166 first-grade classes are participating in the implementation of bilingual education in the national languages Nuni and Moore. Pedagogical supervisors who received training during the holidays will be responsible for training teachers at the beginning of the academic year.This reform represents a significant challenge for the 2026-2027 school year and is part of the ongoing implementation of the Ministry of National Education's 11 major projects aimed for completion by 2030. The administrative period, which extends until September 30, 2026, is dedicated to preparatory activi ties such as recruiting new students, conducting back-to-school meetings, and distributing teaching materials.Sidbewendin Compaoré emphasized the role of supervisors from various Basic Education Districts (CEB) in overseeing the administrative start of the school year. He stressed the importance of thorough preparation for the success of the 2026-2027 school year. He also noted that most staff members are present, with only a few absences due to illness.Additionally, the provincial education official pointed out the need for more personnel in the early childhood sector. This necessity is to support the establishment of new preschool centers and to enhance staffing in existing ones.
