Zondoma: The municipality of Zabr celebrated academic excellence for the years 2025 and 2026 on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Place de la Nation, by rewarding the best students, teachers, and supervisors. In total, 4 motorcycles, 7 computers, 2 tablets, 15 bicycles, 60 school kits, and certificates of recognition were awarded to the various winners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Gouba Julienne was distinguished as the best student in 2025 for the CEB of Zabr 1 with an average of 8.94/10, while Gambo Oussounssoum Arielle obtained the title in 2026 with 9.61/10. In the CEB of Zabr 2, Nanga Wendtouma Patricia was the best student in the CEP 2025 with an average of 8.88/10. In 2026, this distinction went to Seihon Hamida, with 9.36/10.
Among teachers, Koampaba Couldiati, from the Bango school, was recognized as the best teacher in the Zabr 1 CEB in 2025, with all 66 students passing the CEP exam. In 2026, Fati Guengani/Yabr, from Zabr-Filles A, achieved a 100% pass rate with 62 students. For the Zabr 2 CEB, Moctar Tarnagda from Zabr B School was named best teacher in 2025, with all 59 students passing. In 2026, Aline Ouangrawa K., also from Zabr B School, received the distinction of best teacher with 71 students, all achieving a 100% success rate.
For this sixth edition, academic excellence was celebrated under the theme: "Excellence in primary and secondary school, a commitment to resilience and patriotism." The major innovation of this edition was the recognition of the merit of the best high school graduates in the A and D series, rewarded with tablets, and the best secondary school teacher, rewarded with a laptop.
In his welcoming remarks, Comrade PDS of Zabr, Alain Boubi Bassono, congratulated the award winners and thanked the partners who contributed to the success of the event. He emphasized that "no award in itself is enough to express the community's gratitude for education."
Comrade W. Grard Mar, PDS representative from Bagr, representing the ceremony's president, the High Commissioner of Boulgou Province, conveyed the latter's congratulations to the organizers and award recipients. He explained that the High Commissioner, who had wished to attend, was unable to do so due to a similar ceremony in Tenkodogo. According to the High Commissioner's representative, the "Golden Chalk" award recognizes hard work, discipline, perseverance, and merit. He encouraged the award recipients to redouble their efforts.
Moved by this recognition, the winner, Guengani/Yabr Fati, felt that this distinction would motivate her to redouble her efforts. "The only secret to success for me is selflessness and a passion for work. I dedicate the motorcycle I received to my superiors and especially to my colleagues and my family," she declared.
Initiated by decree in 2019, the celebration of academic excellence aims to recognize the merit of the best students and teachers in the municipality of Zabr.
