Zondoma: Fifty-seven CP1 teachers and school directors from the two Basic Education Districts (CEB) of Barsalogho began, on Thursday at the Barsalogho Centre school, a two-week training course devoted to bi-multilingual teaching.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Barsalogho 1, Jean Marie Oudraogo, emphasized the necessity of this educational reform, particularly in light of the challenges faced by some students in learning French. "We learn easily, quickly and well through our own language; the language of the other has torpedoed us," Oudraogo remarked, highlighting the importance of integrating local languages in education.

Oudraogo explained that the Ministry of Basic Education and Literacy (MEBA) initially piloted and evaluated the bilingual approach before deciding to expand its implementation. The primary goal of the training is to help teachers effectively combine French with the learners' mother tongue, mainly Moor, in their teaching methods.

Comrade Oudraogo further elaborated that the concept of bi-plurilingualism involves the concurrent teaching of both the local language and French. The training program accommodates participants who are both new to and experienced in this teaching model, equipping them with the requisite skills to apply their newfound knowledge in classrooms starting from the upcoming academic year.

This initiative is a part of the Program for the Development of Bilingual and Multilingual Education (PLN) initiated by MEBA, aiming to enhance the educational framework by fostering a more inclusive and effective learning environment.
