Kndougou:Heavy rainfall during the night of September 17-18, 2026, caused a significant rise in water levels on the Banzon-Samorogouan road, complicating traffic and worsening the disrepair of the main bridge on this route.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on the morning of Friday, September 18, 2026, the president of the Banzon Si Poda special delegation visited the site to evaluate the situation. Upon arrival, parts of the road were submerged, and the river level continued to rise, further complicating travel between Banzon and Samorogouan.

Witnesses reported that water began flooding the road around 9 a.m., prompting some travelers to postpone their journeys due to safety concerns over the strong current and poor road conditions. The severe weather has further damaged the bridge, initially weakened by heavy rains on August 8th, raising local concerns about mobility and economic exchanges between communities.

In response, the Banzon District Police urged residents to exercise caution, avoid risky crossings, and adhere to safety guidelines. A report will be sent to administrative and technical authorities to assess the situation and consider measures to secure the bridge and restore traffic conditions.

Rapid intervention is deemed necessary by many residents to prevent further damage from future rains to this vital infrastructure for the Banzon and Samorogouan municipalities.
