Ouagadougou: The annual conference of administrative staff (CAPA) of secondary education in the Sissili province opened this Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Brkia private technical high school in Lo. It brings together approximately 150 educational stakeholders around the main theme: 'Implementation of reforms in secondary education, skills development through vocational training and scientific and technological education.'
According to Burkina Information Agency, Presiding over the opening ceremony, the provincial director of secondary, vocational, and technical education (DPESFPT) for Sissili, Lawabien Serge To, delivered the message from the supervising minister, Moumouni Zoungrana. He commended the resilience of the educational community and paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).
The DPESFPT clarified that the main objective of this work is to equip administrative officials with the key concepts of these reforms. "From the start of the academic year, we will conduct close monitoring in the field and use digital monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the progress of implementation at the provincial level," warned Lawabien Serge To.
For trainer Benjamin Benao, a French inspector at the Provincial Directorate, the goal is to ensure all stakeholders have the same level of information regarding the system's transformation. "General education institutions will gradually evolve into multi-purpose structures integrating technical and vocational training to facilitate the socio-professional integration of young people," he explained.
Among the participants, Hermann Sia, principal of the Silly Departmental High School, stressed the urgency of directing more students towards science to transform the country, requesting the support of parents.
As for the director of the Yall CEG, Jocelyne Sanou, she sees this conference as a lever for capacity building, but hopes that the duration of future editions will be increased. "We would like these conferences to become a regular event and for their duration to be extended from 3 to 4 or 5 days to allow us to explore all these issues in greater depth," she argued.
The work of this CAPA 2026 continues in Lo until September 24 with the formulation of resolutions and the drafting of the final memorandum.
