Golden Thread Initiative Launches to Boost Burkinabe Textiles

Kokologho:The commune of Kokologho hosted the launch ceremony for the first edition of the "Golden Thread" initiative, aimed at promoting textiles, on Friday, September 25.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition seeks to enhance Burkinabe textiles by engaging local industry players in a series of contests. The event is supported by traditional, religious, and municipal authorities and serves as a platform for weavers, tailors, and dyers to showcase their skills in producing and promoting traditional fabrics like Faso Danfani and Kokodonda, as well as local clothing designs.

Marie Claire Ou©draogo, the initiative's leader and CEO of Claire Divine Fashion, emphasized the event's focus on social protection and the encouragement of industry players to invest further in their trade. She also encouraged young people to consider careers in textile training, describing it as a crucial element for promoting Burkinabe culture.

Cheik Inoussa Tiemtor©, the ceremony's patron, alongside honorary president Adiza Lamien Ouando, founder of the Negabonou association, commended the initiative. They praised its contribution to supporting government efforts in promoting local consumption.

Jean Golbert Nana, the first vice-president of the special delegation of the Kokologho commune, congratulated the organizers and their partners while urging the local community to attend the exhibitions.

The first edition of the program includes exhibitions and sales, with the grand finale scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, where winners in various categories will be announced.
