Tenkodogo:Nakamb©: The governor of the Nakamb© region, Yiy© Abraham Somdo, officially launched the 2026-2027 school year during a flag-raising ceremony at Kiri public primary school in Tenkodogo. The event emphasized resilience and patriotic commitment as central themes for the academic year.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was attended by regional officials, educational authorities, teachers, students, and parents. Governor Somdo highlighted that selecting Kiri school aligns with the "buy local" month and the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation. He encouraged students to embrace love for Burkina Faso by integrating knowledge, social skills, and character into their education. School uniforms made from Faso Danfani fabric and other educational innovations were introduced as part of this initiative.
Regional director Bourbila Pierre Silga announced that 24 schools in high-security areas are set to reopen, contingent on population resettlement and support from the Defense and Security Forces and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland. He urged teachers to view their roles as contributions to national development and encouraged students and parents to focus on education.
The ceremony featured an act of solidarity for students in difficult circumstances, with Sonia Zango of the Enfants Burkina Faso association highlighting her organization's efforts in supporting vulnerable children. The event sponsor, Emmanuel Sorgho, CEO of Sowef company, called on parents to engage more actively in their children's education, emphasizing that school is a shared responsibility.
The ceremony concluded with a call for collective efforts to ensure that the 2026-2027 school year is marked by the consolidation of achievements and improved learning conditions in the region.
