Ouagadougou:The Nong-Taaba Association for Disabled Persons (AN/PH) has distributed school kits valued at 1,075,000 FCFA to 165 students from vulnerable families in Ouagadougou for the 2026-2027 school year. The recipients include disabled children, children of disabled persons, orphans, and children of internally displaced persons.
According to the Burkina Information Agency, the distribution event was organized by the association to aid students in their educational pursuits. Each kit provided to post-primary and secondary students includes notebooks, a bag, pens, and a watch, while primary school students received notebooks, pens, a slate, a water bottle, and a bag.
Oumarou Nana, the chairman of the organizing committee, addressed the beneficiaries, encouraging them to strive against ignorance and poverty. He emphasized the sacrifices made to procure these school kits and urged the students to excel in their studies. He also called on parents to support their children's education, even if they cannot read or write.
Roukiyatou Ouangr, representing the provincial director of Family and Solidarity of Kadiogo, highlighted the financial strain faced by many parents during the school year and praised the association's support as a significant relief. She reiterated the commitment of her service to assist the association in its initiatives for children.
This initiative is part of the Nong-Taaba Association's annual efforts to enhance educational access for children from vulnerable backgrounds. Established in 2013, the association focuses on promoting the well-being of people with disabilities through socio-cultural and economic development, conducting awareness-raising, training, and socio-economic support activities. It offers training in various trades and provides support for income-generating activities for its members.
