Endeavour Mining Launches 2026 ESG Caravan in Hounde

Hounde:Endeavour Mining Group, through its subsidiary Hounde Gold Operation (HGO), has launched its 2026 ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) caravan. The ceremony, held on October 1, 2026, was presided over by the High Commissioner of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, and attended by local authorities, mining officials, and community representatives.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ESG caravan aims to promote Endeavour Mining's sustainable development strategy under the message "We are in this together." The launch included artistic performances by the Lambeyoro dance troupe and skits illustrating the mining group's commitments. Former beneficiaries of the company's social programs shared their positive experiences, highlighting the financial and educational support they received.

Myriam Dahany, ESG Manager for Burkina Faso at Endeavour Mining, emphasized the importance of integrating ESG principles into daily practices through active listening, dialogue, and partnership with host communities. She outlined the company's 2026-2030 ESG strategy, which focuses on employee development, health, education, community well-being, local economic support, environmental protection, and ethical practices.

Nye-Aza Frederic Some, representing the Managing Director of Hounde Gold Operations, discussed environmental initiatives, including a target to recycle 70% of water used in mining and the restoration of 35 hectares in the Bambou classified forest. Other focus areas include waste management, energy efficiency, and rehabilitation of mining sites. Some highlighted the need for stakeholder involvement and collaboration to ensure responsible mining practices.

High Commissioner Issiaka Segda stated that the ESG caravan provides a platform for interaction and dialogue between HGO and local communities. He stressed the importance of informing the population, addressing their concerns, and enhancing understanding of the company's commitments. Segda encouraged ongoing openness and engagement from HGO, and urged the community to utilize dialogue mechanisms to tackle challenges. The ESG caravan continued its journey to the villages of Kari and Koho on October 2nd.
