National Police Hands Over Responsibilities to Gendarmerie in Founzan

Founzan:The Founzan District Police Station officially transferred its responsibilities to the Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade, marking a change in the delineation of duties between the National Police and the National Gendarmerie.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony occurred on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, with the presence of administrative authorities, representatives of Defense and Security Forces, and community leaders. Boubacar Oudraogo, the outgoing District Police Commissioner, praised the collaboration with various authorities and the people of Founzan, expressing gratitude to those who supported the National Police in its mission.

Youssouf Dm, the commander of the Founzan Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade, took charge, promising to continue the work initiated by the National Police. He highlighted the gendarmerie's commitment to professionalism, loyalty, and determination in protecting people and property. He urged the community to actively cooperate with the brigade, assuring them of its readiness to address concerns and maintain service continuity.

Wahabo Kabor, president of the Founzan municipal special delegation, acknowledged the 41 years of service provided by the National Police and emphasized that the handover signifies continuity in public service rather than a break. He pledged the support of the authorities and the public for the new brigade.

The ceremony was attended by Siouroyir Kambou, commander of the Bobo-Dioulasso Departmental Gendarmerie Group, and Gnaorbepiere Pierre Somda, provincial director of the National Police for Tuy. The Founzan Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade will oversee the departments of Founzan, Koti, and Boni.
