New School Complex Inaugurated in Ouagadougou to Accommodate 1,400 Students

Ouagadougou:Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Oudraogo inaugurated the Faso Keoogo school complex in Bonheur-Ville on Monday. The facility, built in Ouagadougou for more than one billion FCFA, was financed entirely by the government and can accommodate over 1,400 students.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the new educational structure is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All. It features a three-story building with 16 classrooms, restrooms on each floor, and facilities designed for people with reduced mobility. The project cost 1,044,800,000 FCFA and is situated on a 35,384 m² plot of land declared of urgent public utility in May 2024.

Prime Minister Oudraogo emphasized that the school reflects the ambition of the Popular Progressive Revolution for Burkina Faso's education system. He noted that this development marks the beginning of a transformation in both educational infrastructure and curriculum. Additionally, fifteen similar complexes are planned for completion by 2027 across fifteen provinces, with each building initially having 18 classrooms, expandable to 24.

Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthène Dingara, highlighted that the new infrastructure addresses the shortage of public schools in rapidly growing areas. He expressed optimism about the new facility, stating it opens up a horizon of knowledge and progress for the nation's children and their families.

Named "Faso Keoogo," the school draws its name from the Moaga tradition of initiation camps and aims to also serve as a venue for instilling civic and patriotic values. The Prime Minister urged the educational community to maintain the infrastructure and utilize it as a space for developing responsible citizens.
