Burkinabe and Ghanaian Artists Unite for Cross-Border Concert

Pô:Artists from Burkina Faso and Ghana organized a concert in Pô on Saturday, October 10, 2026, to promote cross-border fraternity and social cohesion through music. The event was led by Ghanaian musician Kayah Bu.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the concert, themed "Music in the service of social cohesion between the border communities of Burkina Faso and Ghana," attracted cultural figures and music enthusiasts from both nations.

Ali Akiwan Bilgo, the chairman of the organizing committee, stated that the cultural activity was designed to overcome geographical and linguistic barriers, thereby strengthening ties between communities on either side of the border.

Issaka Tapsoba, the patron of the ceremony and a Member of Parliament, highlighted the significance of Burkinabe and Ghanaian artists performing together, underscoring their shared cultural and artistic heritage. He encouraged musicians to continue promoting messages of peace, tolerance, and unity.

The concert featured performances from a dozen artists, including Kayah Bu from Ghana and Awetou from Burkina Faso, captivating the audience for over four hours.

This event is part of a broader effort by Kayah Bu to foster solidarity. In 2025, he organized a concert in support of the Defence and Security Forces of Nahouri province, donating a ton of rice and 200,000 CFA francs.

Before the performances began, traditional authorities blessed the event, expressing hopes that the joy and peace celebrated would spread throughout the national territory.
