Sibi:A mobile clinic, led by Dr. Salfo Zongo from the Ddougou Regional Hospital, visited the Sibi maternity hospital from October 7 to 8, 2026, enabling women in the area to undergo screenings for cervical and breast cancer.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative aligns with the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health's declaration of October as a month dedicated to raising awareness for the prevention of gynecological cancers, particularly breast and cervical cancer.
The screening activities at the Sibi maternity hospital included mammography for breast cancer and colposcopy for cervical cancer. Dr. Zongo emphasized the importance of awareness, stating that teaching women to perform breast self-exams is crucial as it aids in early cancer prevention. He advised women to examine their breasts monthly and to seek medical advice if they notice any abnormalities.
The mobile clinic's visit allowed hundreds of women in Sibi to receive essential health checks. Maïmouna Ganou, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude, describing the experience as "magnificent" and acknowledging the clinic's impact as both real and tangible.
