Bogodogo Radiotherapy Center Treats Hundreds Annually

Bogodogo:The radiotherapy department at the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Bogodogo treats between 300 and 400 patients each year. Over half of these patients suffer from breast and cervical cancers, as stated by Dr. Bertrand Compaor, the department's head, during a health ministry-organized press tour.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the center is equipped with advanced technologies like the VitalBeam and Halcyon linear accelerators, and a brachytherapy device. These tools support treatments such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), aligning with international standards. The facility can accommodate 30 to 40 patients daily.

The center's director emphasizes the importance of rapid detection in facilitating treatment and encourages the population to undergo testing.
