Nouna:The National Police organized an awareness session for road users on October 13, 2026, focusing on risky behaviors as part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC).
According to Burkina Information Agency, Police Lieutenant Moumbo G. Sanou highlighted that most traffic accidents are due to human behavior, such as not wearing helmets, speeding, using phones while driving, and not fastening seatbelts. He emphasized the significant impact of losing lives on the nation, economy, and families.
The initiative aimed to enhance public safety by educating people on road safety practices. Police officers patrolled the main thoroughfare in the city, using hand gestures instead of whistles to slow down drivers and provide safety advice. Strategic teams also participated in the operation, adhering to given instructions.
Police Adjutant Rubin Kienou reported that the operation encountered no major difficulties. Bonaventure Yameogo, a health worker at the Nouna Medical Center with Surgical Unit, noted that the initiative has led to a reduction in accident-related evacuations. Bintou Sangare and Daouda Arama praised the campaign's emphasis on helmet use and adherence to road safety to protect lives.
