Toma:Nayala Students from Nayala province, accompanied by their teachers, marched in Toma on Thursday as part of the VDP school project, under the initiative "Faso Béogo special Thomas Sankara Steps for Sankara." This mobilization aims to promote patriotism, discipline, and civic engagement among school children.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the march began at the Nayala provincial high school and followed a route through key locations such as the Gué Issa Paré roundabout and the area around the Medical Center with a surgical unit, before culminating at the provincial high commissioner’s office. Participants chanted slogans of the revolution throughout the march.
At the conclusion of the event, student Garané Lorine Fabienne from the Nayala provincial high school read a message on behalf of the students, which was then officially handed over to the high commissioner. The students' statement paid tribute to Captain Thomas Sankara, the father of the Burkinabè Revolution, and reaffirmed their commitment to their homeland. They also expressed support for President Captain Ibrahim Traoré's efforts to promote peace.
Sangaré Salif, the provincial coordinator of the VDP school project and director of the CEG in Sapla, highlighted the educational value of the initiative, stating that it teaches students to express their commitment peacefully, responsibly, and constructively.
The High Commissioner of Nayala Province, Honoré Frédéric Paré, praised the mobilization and encouraged the students to maintain discipline, respect for their teachers and elders, and to work diligently. He urged them to draw inspiration from Thomas Sankara's ideals, particularly those emphasizing hard work, consuming local products, and national sovereignty.
This march is seen as a step towards strengthening civic and patriotic education in Nayala's schools, fostering a youth that is aware of its responsibilities in building the nation of Burkina Faso.
