Ouagadougou Women Lead Charge in Peace Caravan’s 11th Stage

Ouagadougou:The president of the Young Peacemakers Association, Hermann Guingane, praised the remarkable mobilization of women during the 11th stage of the "Seed of Cohesion" peace caravan in Ouagadougou's 7th district. Their participation is seen as a significant contribution to promoting peace within families and communities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Guingane highlighted the unexpected large turnout of women, noting that their involvement is crucial for spreading messages of peace and social cohesion. This engagement is considered vital for reaching broader audiences, including children and spouses, thereby fostering the dissemination of values such as intercultural and interreligious dialogue, tolerance, and the fight against hate speech.

The peace caravan has been traveling across the twelve districts of Ouagadougou, with the 11th stage marking its penultimate stop. Activities focus on dialogue between cultures and religions, promotion of peace, and preventing hate speech and religious intolerance. Hermann Guingane noted that the initiative has successfully covered eleven districts, with only one remaining to complete the tour.

Nahire Nakoin, the second vice-president representing the president of the special delegation of district 7, urged participants to apply the meeting's teachings within their communities. He emphasized daily building of peace through respectful behavior and dialogue, particularly cautioning against the spread of hate speech and misinformation on social media.

Nakoin commended the Young Peacemakers Association for its dedication to dialogue and social cohesion and encouraged youths and community leaders to act as peace ambassadors. He stressed that the caravan's success should be evaluated not just by meetings but also by tangible changes in behavior and initiatives that support peaceful coexistence.

The 11th stage includes a panel discussion on intercultural dialogue and a training session on forming local peace cells. The caravan aims to prevent tensions and strengthen social bonds, with the final stop scheduled in Ouagadougou's 5th district.
