Regional Dialogue Framework Discusses Resilience and Sports Preparations in Gourma

Fada N'Gourma:Gourma The third session of the Regional Dialogue Framework (CRD) convened recently in Fada N'Gourma to evaluate the National Strategy for Resilience and Stabilization of Territories and review the preparations for the Sovereignty League, a national sports event.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor of the Goulmou region, Police Commissioner General Ram Joseph Kafando, highlighted the achievements of the Emergency Program for the Sahel (PUS), which was implemented from 2017 to 2024. The program focused on enhancing the operational capacities of fighting forces, bolstering population resilience, consolidating peace, and improving humanitarian responses.

The National Strategy for Resilience and Stabilization of Territories, adopted on December 31, 2025, aims to build upon these gains and expedite the recovery of the national territory. A key aspect of the strategy is facilitating the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their original communities.

Governor Kafando encouraged administrative authorities, local communities, civil society, religious leaders, private sector participants, and technical and financial partners to embrace and engage in the strategy’s implementation.

Jean-Baptiste Koumben, the regional director of sports, youth, and employment in Gourma, stated that the Sovereignty League, initiated by President of Faso Captain Ibrahim Traore, seeks to rejuvenate sports in Burkina Faso. The league will involve all 17 regions of the country, with objectives to identify athletic talents, recruit coaches and mentors, and nurture the development of a national sporting elite.

Preparations in the Goulmou region are focused on developing framework documents, with plans for a meeting with representatives of various sports disciplines to present these documents. This will precede the establishment of regional management bodies and the recruitment of players and coaches.

The session also received technical support from the Directorate General for Territorial Development of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. It reinforced regional stakeholders' commitment to territorial resilience, stabilization, and the development of sports.
