Dedougou:The 10th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 10) has donated construction materials valued at approximately 4 million FCFA to Faso Mêbo, marking the second contribution from this unit since the initiative's commencement in the commune. The handover took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation includes 20 tons of cement, a Klenker truckload of crushed granite, a Klenker truckload of sand, a six-wheeled truckload of washed gravel, and 500 molds. These materials were selected based on the needs expressed by the communal officials of Faso Mêbo.
Captain Wendpanga David Ouedraogo, the commander of BIR 10, stated that the donation underscores the unit's commitment to national service. "We are aware of the undeniable link between peace, security and development. With this donation, we intend to reaffirm our commitment to serving the nation," he said. Captain Ouedraogo highlighted the soldiers' role in both defending the homeland and contributing to its development.
The initiative, dubbed "1 soldier, 1 bag of cement," saw the participation of nearly 300 soldiers from BIR 10, who collectively raised funds for the donation. Captain Ouedraogo expressed that the effort would aid in beautifying Dedougou and reinforcing its infrastructure.
Lieutenant Faouzi Maiga, the deputy coordinator of Faso Mêbo, commended the efforts of BIR 10, noting that this was not their first contribution, with a previous donation also valued at around 4 million FCFA. He encouraged other entities and individuals in Dedougou to emulate BIR 10's example. Lieutenant Maiga emphasized the long-term nature of the Faso Mêbo project and called for sustained participation to support the commune's beautification and infrastructure development efforts.
