Prime Minister Urges Livestock Farmers to Utilize Government Support

Dimvousse:The Prime Minister, on his visit to Dimvousse, emphasized the importance of state support measures aimed at enhancing livestock productivity and animal health. This initiative is part of efforts led by President Captain Ibrahim Traore to bolster Burkina Faso's agricultural sector.

According to Burkina Information Agency, veterinary services in the region showcased initiatives such as vaccination campaigns for various livestock and artificial insemination procedures to improve breeding efficiency. They also highlighted the implementation of digital livestock identification technology, which aids in animal traceability and reduces livestock theft.

During his address, the Prime Minister stressed the government's commitment to increasing agricultural and livestock production as part of an overarching plan to secure the country's food sovereignty. Notably, government subsidies have significantly reduced the cost of cattle artificial insemination from 50,000 to 5,000 CFA francs, and extensive vaccination campaigns are supported by billions of CFA francs in funding.

The Prime Minister encouraged farmers to fully engage with these support measures and urged the community to inform others so that more producers can benefit. He also highlighted the importance of prioritizing the national market to ensure the population's needs are met and to promote food self-sufficiency.

Additionally, he announced plans for new slaughterhouse constructions across the country, aimed at enhancing national slaughtering capacity, supporting local processing, and generating added value for the economy.
