Mogtédo:The Tiipaalga association celebrated its 20th anniversary in Burkina Faso, highlighting significant contributions including the restoration of 40,000 hectares of land, construction of hydraulic infrastructure, and development of income-generating activities for rural populations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebrations took place in Rapadama V1, Mogtédo, and Pousghin, Zam, in Ganzourgou province, showcasing results achieved by the association and the role of communities in project design and implementation.
Tiipaalga operates in nine regions, focusing on environmental protection, agroforestry, and promoting economic activities. President Franziska Kaguembega noted the restoration of 40,000 hectares and improved living conditions for farming families. In Pousghin, the Reversing the Flow (RTF) approach empowers communities to manage activities and investments, including drilling boreholes and organizing training.
In Rapadama V1, the Tigré project supports 140 women in agroecology, with gardens, fish ponds, and market gardening. Sustainability hinges on beneficiaries maintaining infrastructure and continuing activities, as explained by program manager Tidiane Zallé.
High Commissioner Aminata Sorgho/Gouba praised Tiipaalga and urged responsible resource use and infrastructure maintenance. The association's achievements include land restoration, water access, and income generation, with future success reliant on community-led continuity.
