Banfora:The Munyu Women's Association, in partnership with the Banfora municipality and other partners, has announced the 1st edition of the Tannounyan Regional Agroecology Days, scheduled to take place on October 22 and 23, 2026, in Banfora. The announcement was made during a press conference on October 19, 2026, where the main features of the event were presented.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Larissa Kaboré, who is responsible for economic development issues at the Munyu Women's Association, was the main speaker at the event. She highlighted that the event is organized in collaboration with the municipality of Banfora, the National Council for Organic Agriculture (CNABio), and the Tannounyan Framework for Consultation among Agroecology and Organic Agriculture Stakeholders. The aim is to expand the momentum of the national agroecology days to a regional level.
The theme for the edition is "Agroecology and community resilience strategies and levers for action." Kaboré emphasized that agroecology offers pathways to enhance communities' ability to tackle challenges, requiring improved public information, local stakeholder mobilization, and widespread commitment. The workshops are designed to help stakeholders in Tannounyan understand agroecology challenges, share experiences, and identify tailored solutions to enhance community resilience using the region's agroecological potential.
The event will include several presentations and a mini-fair, focusing on topics such as the "National Strategy for the Development of Agroecology Achievements and Perspectives" and "Agroecology, Research and Innovation Levers for Action for Community Resilience." The mini-fair aims to showcase products, initiatives, and expertise from regional stakeholders, encouraging producers and the community to adopt agroecological practices and consumers to embrace the resulting products.
Organizers have urged producers, processors, professional organizations, civil society organizations, and technical services to engage actively for the success of the events.
