Minister Dingara Highlights Cultural Importance at Nazinon Lands Festival

Manga:The Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthène Dingara, emphasized the role of culture in shaping Burkina Faso's future during the official opening of the second edition of the Festival des Terres du Nazinon. The festival, which is operating under the theme "Unity, culture, peace and youth," highlights the strategic value of cultural heritage.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Dingara stated that culture, traditions, languages, know-how, and creativity are crucial assets rather than mere remnants of the past. He likened these elements to a tree's roots, asserting that without them, sustainable growth is not possible. He also noted that culture plays a significant role in dispute resolution, strengthening social cohesion, and transmitting positive values.

The festival's promoter, Atti Denise Koudougou/Oulon, elaborated on the theme's four complementary pillars. Unity is seen as a means to embrace diversity as a strength, while culture serves as the foundation of collective identity and is pivotal for development. Peace is regarded as essential for prosperity, facilitated by solidarity and social cohesion. Youth, viewed as the future's torchbearers, should have spaces to express themselves and opportunities to engage with cultural heritage.

Scheduled from October 19 to 25, 2026, the festival is designed to celebrate the traditions, languages, know-how, and creativity of the Nazinon region's communities. Activities planned include excursions to local tourist sites, thematic conferences, and experience exchanges. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, Aminata Zerbo/Sabané, and the Governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma/Sanou.
