Burkinabe Innovations and Inventions to Take Center Stage at Upcoming Fada N’Gourma Event

Fada N'Gourma:The city of Fada N'Gourma is set to host the 4th edition of the Technology, Invention, and Innovation Promotion Days (JVTII) from October 21 to 23, 2026. The event, organized by the National Agency for the Promotion of Research Results and Innovations (ANVAR), will be chaired by the Governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando. It aims to enhance local expertise, promote the processing of raw materials, and encourage the consumption of Burkinabe products.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. T. Benoît Joseph Batieno, Director General of ANVAR, emphasized the goal of transitioning artisanal methods to semi-industrial processes using locally designed equipment. This shift is expected to boost production, enhance resource processing, and decrease Burkina Faso's technological dependence.

The Governor of the Gourma region, Ram Joseph Kafando, delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, stressing the importance of aligning research with community needs. He urged researchers, inventors, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs to focus on practical, accessible solutions, and to strengthen ties between scientific institutions and the economic sector to transform inventions into productive activities, thereby generating wealth and jobs.

This year's edition will coincide with the Local Product Promotion Days, highlighting soy and its derivatives. The 72-hour event will feature an exhibition of local products, an inaugural conference, and scientific and sectoral discussions aimed at fostering exchanges, partnerships, and skill transfers to improve the quality and competitiveness of Burkinabe products.

The choice of Fada N'Gourma as the event location is attributed to the agro-sylvo-pastoral and forestry potential of Goulmou, as well as the craftsmanship, youthful dynamism, and creativity of its women. This selection also signifies solidarity with the eastern populations facing security challenges.

ANVAR and its partners aim to utilize endogenous technologies as a catalyst for development, job creation, and economic sovereignty in Burkina Faso through this event.
