OST Launches Health Campaign for Bondoukuy Workers

Bondoukuy:The Workers' Health Office (OST) of Dédougou has initiated an annual medical examination campaign for 379 workers in Bondoukuy to prevent occupational risks and assess their medical fitness for work. This campaign began on Monday, October 19, 2026, and is scheduled to continue until October 23 at the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Bondoukuy.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation is being conducted by a team of four specialists, led by Dr. Dina Kaboré, a general practitioner at the OST of Bobo-Dioulasso. The team includes another general practitioner and two occupational health and safety engineers, aiming to examine 70 workers each day.

The medical examinations encompass checks like blood pressure, weight, height, visual acuity, and urine analysis. These exams are supplemented by interviews regarding medical history, working conditions, any work-related accidents, and employee complaints. Physical examinations are also part of the consultations, which aid in early detection of conditions, assessment of workers' health, and determination of their fitness for work.

Lazare Bado, the President of the special delegation of the commune of Bondoukuy, accompanied by the brigade commander of the gendarmerie, visited the site on Tuesday, October 20, to support the medical team and demonstrate municipal backing for the initiative.

Dr. Kaboré emphasized the significance of urine analysis in detecting abnormalities and guiding the screening for kidney and metabolic disorders. She encouraged reluctant workers to participate, highlighting that the annual medical examination is a means of preserving health and promoting professional well-being.

However, the mission has faced organizational challenges, including insufficient premises and a lack of equipment such as chairs, tables, and benches. These issues could affect worker reception and the confidentiality of consultations. Despite these constraints, the full participation of all 379 workers is anticipated to help achieve the campaign's objectives of workplace health prevention and medical monitoring.
