Kombissiri:A significant seizure of 1,106 cartons of smuggled eggs, valued at over 34 million CFA francs, was made on October 19, 2026, by the Republican Security Company (CRS) of the National Police in Kombissiri. This operation was part of the intensified security measures under "WIBGA 3."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Bazga provincial directorate of the National Police, operating in the Nazinon region, increased patrols on all routes leading to Kombissiri as part of the operation. During one such patrol, CRS officers intercepted a shipment of 1,106 cartons, each containing 14 trays of eggs.
Police Commissioner Boureima Kouss, the acting provincial director of the National Police (DPPN) of Bazga, reported that CRS officers intercepted a truck around 4 a.m. inside Kombissiri. The truck, driven by a man accompanied by a woman, was transporting table eggs illegally imported from a neighboring country, intended for Ouagadougou. The driver lacked both an import permit and a health certificate from the origin country.
After the driver unsuccessfully attempted to bribe the CRS officers, the truck was escorted to the police station. Investigations were conducted by the head of the veterinary service and the head of the Kombissiri Livestock Technical Support Zone (ZATE). Due to the large quantity of eggs and storage limitations in Kombissiri, the shipment was escorted to Ouagadougou and handed over to the Directorate General of Veterinary Services (DGSV). The offenders are expected to face legal proceedings.
Confessions revealed that the eggs were intended to be stored in Koubri, approximately twenty kilometers from Ouagadougou, before being sold. Commissioner Kouss called on the public to be vigilant about the origin of consumer goods and to report any suspicious activities or illegal trafficking.
In a related incident, over two thousand trays of eggs and ninety-seven cartons of chickens unfit for consumption were seized in Kombissiri in August 2026.
