Kaya:One hundred and thirty-two individuals, including fifteen men, participated in a free health screening event for breast and cervical cancer, hepatitis B and C, and HIV at the medical center in Kaya's Sector 6. This initiative was part of the "Pagb yidgr-soore" or "Women's Entrepreneurship" campaign, aimed at enhancing women's health and economic empowerment, and was led by the SWEDD+ project.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the screenings were designed to help individuals understand their health status and provide referrals to appropriate facilities for further care if necessary.
Dr. Lamine Ouedraogo, the chief medical officer of the Kaya health district, expressed satisfaction with the mobilization at the site, noting that the campaign is yielding positive results. He highlighted that the initiative is fostering a culture of early prevention within communities. Instances of breast nodules were detected during the screenings, and those affected will be referred to the Regional Hospital Center for treatment. Additionally, other identified conditions can be treated free of charge due to the medications provided to the health teams.
Beneficiaries Aminata Lompo and Alizèta Ouedraogo expressed their gratitude for accessing these services at no cost. Both women were reassured by their negative test results and appreciated the initiative for helping them understand their health better. Alizèta Ouedraogo stated her relief after receiving her results, which allows her to continue her activities without the fear of illness.
