Mana:Endeavour Mining, through its Mana mine in Bale province, has awarded sixty scholarships worth a total of twenty-five million three hundred and fifty thousand CFA francs and provided bicycles to ninety-one students to support the education of children from surrounding communities experiencing economic hardship.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the scholarships were awarded during the Day of Educational Excellence, organized on October 24, 2026. Thirty-three students admitted to the Primary School Certificate (CEP) each received four hundred thousand CFA francs, while twenty-seven students admitted to the Junior High School Certificate (BEPC) each received four hundred fifty thousand CFA francs.
The initiative, as stated by the mining company, aims to promote continued education for students from riverside communities, especially those facing economic difficulties. It is structured around two mechanisms the Scholarship Program, which offers financial support to students who pass exams, and the School Emulation Program, which rewards outstanding students, teachers, and schools.
As part of the School Emulation Program, ninety-one primary and secondary school students received bicycles to facilitate their commute to school and encourage their academic endeavors. Additionally, one hundred and fifty school bags were distributed to beneficiaries. A motorcycle and a laptop are intended for deserving teachers, while schools recognized for their performance will receive computer and reprographic equipment.
In total, forty-two schools across twenty villages in the communes of Kona, Bana, Pompoi, Safane, and Yaho are part of these initiatives. These efforts align with Endeavour Mining's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, aiming to promote academic excellence, reduce barriers to education, and improve learning conditions around the Mana mine.
