Kaya:The president and coach of Nongodo Football Club (FC), Rasmane Kanouté Kargougou, has expressed significant disappointment following the decision by the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) to exclude the team from the 2026-2027 Women's Ligue 1 and impose a fine of 250,000 CFA francs. The club has announced plans to appeal this decision to the federal authorities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Kargougou received the decision with a "heavy heart," as it was unexpected. He noted that the matter had previously been addressed at the federal level through a points deduction, which relegated Nongodo FC to second place prior to the qualifying playoffs.
Kargougou highlighted what he described as "many malfunctions" in the handling of the procedure, particularly questioning the timing of a joint appeal by AS Bado and AS Triomphe, dated before his team's playoff match. He raised concerns over why competitions were not suspended to address issues beforehand.
Further contesting the review process, Kargougou mentioned the FBF's legal committee's initial decision and announced plans to appeal to the FBF, urging calm among supporters. He acknowledged their frustration and assured them of further communications post-appeal.
The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee's decision, which was rendered at first instance and noted unchallenged identity fraud involving five players, can be appealed before the FBF Appeals Commission within eight days of notification.
