Korsimoro:On the second day of its tour of the Koulsé region, the press caravan of the "Pagb Yidgr-Sooré" or "Women's Entrepreneurship" campaign visited Korsimoro to explore women's community and associative initiatives. These initiatives are centered around promoting and processing local products, sharing entrepreneurial experiences through educational talks, and improving the hygiene of public services.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the local coordination of women's organizations revealed a network of twenty-five cooperatives and associations consisting of approximately one hundred and thirty women. These organizations are dedicated to generating income and promoting economic empowerment among their members.
The women involved in these cooperatives transform local products into fortified infant flours, soumbala, and various semolinas, known as bassi and mogoudougou. Beyond agri-food processing, some groups have also invested in agriculture, livestock farming, and the production of baobab and moringa seedlings.
Fatimata Bamogo, head of the women and president of the Riyilma Téné cooperative, highlighted the financial benefits of these activities, noting that they shared one million CFA francs last year and seven hundred and fifty thousand CFA francs this year among the women involved. Sakinatou Bamogo shared her personal success story of starting a business with limited resources, which now supports her family.
In addition to economic activities, the women of Korsimoro organize bi-weekly events to maintain and improve the hygiene of public services in the town, such as the town hall and health centers. This initiative is part of their efforts to enhance the living environment.
Health is a priority for these women, as evidenced by the free health screenings provided at the Korsimoro Medical Center for breast and cervical cancer, HIV, syphilis, and viral hepatitis B and C. Issouf Ouédraogo, chief physician of the medical center, emphasized the importance of early detection in cancer treatment and expressed gratitude for the project's focus on Korsimoro.
