Béguédo:The 6th edition of the Boulgou Super Cup commenced on Saturday in Béguédo, with Moussa W. Ouédraogo, president of the special delegation of Béguédo, initiating the event on behalf of the province's high commissioner, Domègbèguiéré Constantin Dabiré.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Ouédraogo commended the initiative for its role in enhancing social cohesion and encouraging youth development. He urged young footballers to utilize the competition as an opportunity to display their abilities, with the aim of forming a regional team for the Sovereignty Cup.
The competition, centered around football, seeks to unite young individuals from various municipalities within the province and facilitate interaction among communities. This year's edition features matches held in both Béguédo and Torla. In the opening match at Béguédo's municipal field, Béguédo FC secured a 3-1 victory over Diamant Rouge de Bittou, marking a successful start to the event.
Promoter Adama Bara explained that the Super Cup originated from the desire to unite the province's youth through sport, a crucial element for social cohesion. Over five editions, the event has seen satisfactory outcomes, with increased participation and enthusiasm from municipalities. This year, 43 teams initially registered, and 20 were selected for the final stage.
Despite challenges in securing financial resources due to the national context, the promoter acknowledged the support from individuals and stakeholders dedicated to sustaining the initiative. This edition is under the patronage of Boureima Balima, Secretary General of the Burkina Faso Football Federation, and Awa Bilgo, CEO of Relais Média, serves as the sponsor. Samadou Souléné, President of the Burkinabè diaspora in Italy, is the guest of honor, while Hermann Yabré, Technical Inspector at the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment, heads the organizing committee.
The PDS encouraged young participants to view the competition as a platform for brotherhood, interaction, and talent expression. Pre-selection events are scheduled for November 3rd and 5th, 2026, at the Stade du 20-Mai in Tenkodogo, aimed at forming the regional team.
Abass Bara, representing His Majesty Naaba Tanga II, the traditional chief of Tenkodogo, delivered a message of tolerance, camaraderie, and fair play, emphasizing that the core objective of the competition is to reinforce social cohesion beyond sporting achievements. Through this edition, organizers and authorities aim to use football as a means of uniting communities, promoting local talent, and strengthening communal living in the province of Boulgou.
