Ouagadougou, The Minister of Health, Jean Claude Kargougou, announced Tuesday that rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) for Dengue fever are now free in public health centers and training facilities, up to 'at the end of the epidemic currently affecting Burkina Faso.
“The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene informs the public that as part of the response to the dengue epidemic, arrangements have been made to ensure the availability of RDT rapid diagnostic tests in training courses public health facilities in a context of low availability of the test on the international market.
Also, it informs all populations that rapid RDT diagnostic tests for dengue fever are free until the end of the epidemic is declared.
Free RDT rapid diagnostic tests for dengue concern public health structures in particular, university hospitals (CHU), regional hospitals, medical centers with surgical antenna (CMA) and medical centers (CM).
These tests are prescribed by health workers who provide curative consultation and care in public health facilities as part of the exercise of their employment and in compliance with the technical directives in force.
The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene expresses its compassion to the patients and families who are victims of this scourge.
Furthermore, it encourages the population to respect the hygiene and protection measures enacted in order to break the cycle of transmission of dengue and strongly recommends against self-medication which is a source of complications of the disease. »
