Her Excellency Madame Olivia ROUAMBA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, and the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Mr. Masaaki KATO, proceeded this Thursday, October 19, 2023, to the signing and exchange of Notes relating to the granting of a donation from the Japanese government for the execution of food aid (KR-2023) for the 2023 fiscal year.

On the occasion of this signing and exchange of notes which reflect the excellence of cooperation between the country of upright men and the country of the rising sun, the Japanese Ambassador indicated that this contribution is a way for his country to support the Burkinabè people in their resilience in the face of the dual security and humanitarian crisis.

In addition to this donation, Japan supported several other projects in Burkina Faso, including the nutritional situation food project, the irrigation project and the African coalition for the development of rice cultivation.

“All this support is intended to support the efforts of the Burkinabè authorities in their actions aimed at improving the food situation in Burkina Faso,” indicated the Japanese diplomat.

For the head of Burkinabe diplomacy, this donation once again reflects the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. “It will have a positive impact on the daily lives of the Burkinabè” added HE Ms. Olivia ROUAMBA.

In its cooperation with Burkina Faso, Japan has integrated the training of national volunteers, and placed emphasis on endogenous development and resilience, an approach that the head of diplomacy welcomed.

She concluded by saying that Burkina Faso knows how to count on its strategic partners, including Japan, to meet the current challenges facing the country.
