SNC 2026/Gastronomy: The Culinary Talents of the Elders Passed on to the Younger Generation

Bobo-dioulasso: The culinary expertise of the elders has been passed on to the younger generation, acknowledged Pascal Yemboani Thiombiano, technical advisor to the Minister in charge of Culture, on Friday at the closing of the 3rd edition of the National Gastronomy Promotion Days, as observed by AIB on site, at the SNC 2026 communities village.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Pascal Yemboani Thiombiano emphasized the significant role that gastronomy plays in societies and ethnic groups during the National Culture Week. He highlighted the talents of men and women in the culinary arts, showcased through the event. He represented the minister at the closing ceremony and expressed the importance of master classes conducted during the event, which enabled the transmission of culinary knowledge from one generation to another.

Mr. Thiombiano remarked on the preservation of cultural heritage through gastronomy, noting the presence of visitors, including those from sister countries of the AES, such as Mali and Niger. He expressed satisfaction with the activity and emphasized the need to consolidate the gains achieved.

He further explained that the field of gastronomy must remain dynamic to avoid stagnation. He encouraged the exploration of external influences to adapt to local realities and continue the growth of culinary arts.

At the 3rd edition of the National Gastronomy Promotion Days, more than 60 exhibitors from various regions presented over forty dishes, including starters, main courses, desserts, and local drinks. These offerings demonstrated the creativity and expertise of the culinary participants.

Since the event's launch on April 26, the exhibition and sales site attracted an average of at least 500 visitors per day. The 3rd edition was held alongside the SNC 2026, which spanned from April 25 to May 2.
