Ouagadougou: The Republic of Japan on Tuesday offered equipment worth 93 million FCFA to the Ministry in charge of Humanitarian Action, for the biometric registration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).The donation worth around 93 million FCFA is essentially made up of 200,000 registration cards, 120 fingerprint sensors and 120 'power bank' batteries, indicates the communication services of the said ministry.This donation is part of support for biometric registration and profiling of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Burkina Faso.For the Ambassador of the Republic of Japan, Nagashima Jun, this support is a transversal project through which his country would like to help Burkina Faso accelerate its development, by exploiting the potential of digital technology.The Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action, Nandy Somé/Diallo, expressed her thanks to the diplomat for his support which made it possible to achieve progress in the registration of IDPs.According to the minister, enormous challenge s remain to be met so that biometric registration of IDPs can extend to all regions of the country, concluded the same source.Source: Burkina Information Agency
