Ouagadougou: A total of 8 Burkinabè athletes will defend the colors of Burkina Faso at the 33rd Olympic Games Paris 2024 which opened this Friday in the French capital.Hugues Fabrice Zango (triple jump), Marthe Koala (length) are the Burkinabe representatives in athletics. In taekwondo Fayçal Sawadogo (-80kg) and Ibrahim Maïga (-68kg) will wear the colors of Burkina Faso. These 4 athletes qualified on the field for these Olympics.The other 4 representatives received wild cards (they were invited) for the Games. They are Awa Bamogo in cycling, Souleymane Nqaparé and Iman Firdaus in swimming and Karmel Koné in judo.The world champion in his discipline Hugues Fabrice Zango who is going to the Games in better shape, this time hopes for a gold medal after the bronze in Tokyo. His best performance is 17m57 while the Spaniard Jordan Diaz (18m18) and the Portuguese Pablo Pichardo (18m04) will be his serious opponents.It will be enough for Burkinabè to manage emotions well to achieve their objectives.
